One fun way to keep the Christmas spirit going is to plan an Epiphany party!
Celebrated January 6th, Epiphany commemorates the visit of the Magi who followed the star to adore the Christ Child with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The wise men remind us to never stop seeking the Lord and to offer Him the gift of our lives!
There are many many festive traditions to celebrate Epiphany! Leave the tree up 🎄, invite a few friends, and plan an Epiphany Party! Here are some ideas:
🎂Party with a ‘King Cake’! This delicious cake is shaped like a crown, symbolizing the three kings who visited our Lord and Christ himself, the newborn King. Traditionally a small plastic baby Jesus is hidden inside the cake, for guests to search for – a reminder of the three kings’ search for the Christ Child. Whoever finds the baby in their slice of cake gets to host the party next year! *Bonus tip: Attach our Wise Men Stickers to toothpicks and use as ‘King Cake’ toppers!
🏠Bless your home. Traditionally on the feast of Epiphany, Catholics bless their homes by writing the letters C, M and B and the numbers of the year (ex. 2024) at the top of their doors, accompanied by a special prayer. The letters stand for the names of the three Magi: Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar and also represent the Latin blessing ‘Christus mansionem benedicat’ which means ‘May Christ bless this house'.
🎁Exchange gifts. Some families and friends give gifts on Epiphany, remembering the Magi’s gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus.
